Workers were tearing down a residential building, a part of a twin, on the 4700 block of Walnut Street today. The Philadelphia Licences and Inspections office deemed the building at 4729 Walnut St “imminently dangerous” and ordered it to be demolished after parts of its roof, wall, ceiling and floor collapsed on Friday. The license type for the property indicates that it was vacant.

Holy smokes. This is the second “needs TLC” property that was on the market in the past year that has started collapsing this month. The first was the one around 51st and Baltimore. Both were on my radar as someone searching for a home to fix up (for living in, not for flipping).
The house next to it (that you can see with the boarded up windows) was up for sale last month. I assume it found a buyer.
Cautionary tales?
