The Clay Studio presents Clay & Conversations, an exciting series of informal conversations and get- with ceramic artists, curators, scholars, and friends togethers. On September 1, join Jennifer Zwilling, Curator of Artistic Programs, as she welcomes Making Place Matter artist Ibrahim Said. With skills passed down from his father’s work in a centuries-old Egyptian pottery town, Ibrahim Said’s lattice-like geometry is inspired by the traditional Islamic mashrabiya, an architectural screen that merges decoration and function. In Said’s hands, these slender pierced ceramic panels twist and bend into the awe-inspiring sculpture, On the Bank of the Nile.
