Police are investigating the origins of a package received at West Philadelphia High School this morning that contained racist materials and a news article about the killings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
A police spokeswoman would only say that the material in the package, which was delivered just before 9 a.m., was “not so good.” She did confirm that the materials were racist in nature. Philly.com is reporting that the package also contained a note that read “you are next.”
We’ll update with details when we get them.

Assholes being assholes. I don’t believe that these sorts of ‘warnings’ really turn out to have any substance, so I hope the school is able to remain calm but let’s hope the asshole is a stupid asshole who left fingerprints allover everything.

I would agree with Christina but of course you have to take even the stupidest threat seriously until you’re sure it’s just a hoax. I don’t think that in any of the cases where these kinds of psychotic shoot sprees happen that the shooter mails a warning to their target. Some have said things on social media or leave a note at home before doing what they do, but I don’t think anyone really bent on shooting up a school would mail warning. That said, I hope the police and the US Postmaster General (if this was mailed) investigate and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.

I feel as though if it was serious or not that the school should have been on the phone calling parents we were left in the dark that is not cool with me being a parent of a child who goes to that school

I have friends that goes to that school. It is okay to ‘remain calm but the students and faculty members should be evacuated. Its jot safe. A threat could becone a promise real quick and for ppl to be taking it lightly as if the shooting in Newtown did not occur. I feel as though it’s nit being looked at because of the race of students that go there. Had it been a suburban neighborhood future actions would have been taken
