UPDATE (Friday, Jan. 11): Mars has been found and returned to his owner.
Mars, a 2-year-old Beagle/Terrier Mix, escaped from his home near Clark Park this afternoon. He was last seen in the area of 49th and Woodland. He is about 25 pounds. He is microchipped and wearing a collar with tags. He’s a very friendly dog but shy around new people.
If you have any information regarding Mars, please contact Stacy at 267-902-2020.

Thos,
If you read the original ad you will know that he escaped. He was actively being searched for in every direction for two+ days…
I assume he walked over the bridge… L

I wouldn’t care, but I was curious about the location. We rescued a dog near that recycling station a while ago. There are very few houses there, so I wondered if it was a place that people take their dogs to dump them. I realize that the “lost” post says he escaped, but that’s exactly what a person who dumps dogs would tell everyone. I’m glad he’s safe and hope he doesn’t “escape” again.

I must be missing something here. Why would someone who “dumps dogs” tell everyone that their dog escaped, is lost, and that they need helping finding him?

Ignore thos. One of the best and … brightest?… and by that I mean nastiest trolls on WPL. 🙂
Glad to see Mars made it home!

FYI lost dogs are frequently get scared and nervous and gravitate towards big open spaces with piles of trash to hide behind, like construction sites, etc. It’s common to find them in such spots, not because they were dumped there, but because they feel safer there.

I could see Thos’ point if you said to someone “What happened to that dog you used to have?” and they responded “Um, er, it escaped the yard and we can’t find it. Yeah, that’s it.”
But if the owner posts a photo of the dog in the local online paper and publishes her number, asking people for help finding the dog – I think it’s safe to assume this wasn’t an “accidental-on-purpose” pet loss.
Anyway, glad the little cutie was found. Pups’ explanation makes a lot of sense, too.
