12- and 11-year-old rob 13-year-old at gunpoint for iPhone at 42nd and Locust

September 25, 2015

A Penn Alexander eighth grader was robbed at gunpoint on Thursday evening near 42nd and Locust by two boys, police said.

The eighth grader and a witness told police that at about 7 p.m. he got into an argument with two other boys, ages 11 and 12, when one produced a handgun and asked the victim to hand over his iPhone 6. The two boys fled and were later apprehended near 46th and Spruce. No gun was found, but police retrieved the phone.

We are not releasing the names of the any of the boys involved because of their ages.

Horrible indeed… if there was a gun involved. I’m not saying there wasn’t, there are all too many ways it could happen, but I’m imagining an 8th-grader too embarrassed to admit (especially to his friends, or “friends”), that he gave up his iPhone to an unarmed 11- and 12-year-old.

We witnessed the boys who were caught. One was crying and asking for his mom and said he didn’t do anything. They handcuffed him. It was sad how little he was compared to the cops.

I just caught tools in hand under my porch in my back yard three teens and a SIX year old stealing two of my bikes. I caught them and called the police. THE POLICE DID NADDA!!!!!!! They let the delinquents go did not write a report did not contact the parents and scolded me for catching the thieves and calling the police. A big WTF!!!???

What would one expect. The police do the minimum here in west philadelphia unless you have STUDENT ID. or are friends of the big JB. The cops do not care about citizens Were the enemy. remember?

  7. MX Says:

There are gangs of young kids roaming around Pine and Spruce , stealing and/or vandalising with impunity.

There is a gaggle of them that hang at the sunoco on walnut accosting people at the pumps about 8 of them all under 15 years old. During the week they were NOT in school but hanging at the gas station. PPD sits there and watches but does nothing.

  9. MX Says:

If I went there, I wouldn’t let them anywhere near my car. I’m sure the staff running the tills have no power to do anything about this, but maybe call Sunoco and report it?

They skip school openly, they deal drugs openly, they rob in daylight. Where is our city council? our state Rep? or the police? where are their parents? When some one catches them and holds them for the police the police let them go not even asking the perpetrators name.
I have witnessed the police intimidate citizens wishing to file a citizens complaint. I witnessed one officer threaten to arrest “a victim of a crime” if they (the victim) insisted on filing a report. (this was a woman hit by a male stranger witnessed by many people in a public access) I have witnessed 911 being called to a specific address on numerous occasions, no officer response, No shows No reports being filed. I have witnessed a council person admit to GRAFT and violation of their oath of office UNDER OATH, and still nothing is done.
Maybe it is time the citizens take more action. I for one have filed for and received my fire arms permit and am taking classes. If I can not or am not protected by the police and those in office. I WILL PROTECT MYSELF.
