Jaden’s Voice, a non-profit organization supporting families and people impacted by autism in underserved communities, has recently opened an office in West Philadelphia.
In honor of National Autism Awareness Month, Councilman At-Large Derek Green and Founder/CEO of Jaden’s Voice, Terri Matthews, both long-term advocates in the autism community, will host a special Autism Awareness Community Open House on Saturday, Apr. 9, at Jaden’s Voice West Philly location at 5548 Chestnut St. The purpose of this event is to help build awareness about autism in the community and provide resources for families who are impacted by autism. This event will also serve as Councilman Green’s ongoing autism initiative as Chair of City Council’s Committee on Disabilities, and support Jaden’s Voice official grand opening of their West Philadelphia office, which will now offer programs and services directly to the community.
Both Green and Matthews have worked extensively in raising awareness about ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) in the public and private sectors for many years. They both share similar experiences for this cause, as both of their sons have been diagnosed with autism.
Matthews formed Jaden’s Voice (named after her son) to help meet the needs of less fortunate families facing the same issues. “It became apparent to me that unless a family had extensive financial resources, the essential needs of a child with autism could go unaddressed,” she said in a statement. The Autism Awareness Community Open House will have information and resources provided by Jaden’s Voice and United Healthcare and giveaways, and light refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public.
The open house will be held from Noon – 3 p.m.
