West Philly “Shark Tank” contestants open pop-up restaurant

January 10, 2017

The two sisters behind LuLu Bang, who recently appeared on ABC’s reality TV show “Shark Tank,” have just opened a new pop-up restaurant in West Philly. Jorrae and Kelly Beard, the owners of LuLu Bang Sauces and Marinades, opened Lulu Bang Burgers & Wangs on Jan. 2 at The Common Table at 310 S. 48th St.. The restaurant is part of the Dorrance H. Hamilton Center for Culinary Enterprises (CCE) incubator program.

The pop-up restaurant will operate at this location until March 31; LuLu Bang is an active member of the CCE and will have the organization’s support during their launch phase. While temporarily using space at The Common Table, the program will continue to seek a permanent location for LuLu Bang’s future restaurant and will launch a kick starter campaign for 60 days.

The menu is themed around the specialty gourmet Lulu Bang sauces and will feature some of their signature dishes, including Lulu Bang’s Seafood Fried Rice (loaded with salmon, shrimp and lump crab meat), Lulu Bang Wangs (wings tossed in various sauce options), Lulu Bang Salmon & Crab Cakes, Lulu Bang Char-grilled chicken and angus beef burgers, and Lulu Bang Mango Coleslaw. Also, don’t forget about the Lulu Bang Soulful Sides (collard green and cabbage medley and bourbon beefy beans, to name a few).

Every Friday will be “Soulful Fridays” and, in addition to regular menu items, the restaurant will offer a full soul food selection, including fried fish, mussels, momma’s baked mac and cheese, and candied citrus yams.

UPDATE: Lulu Bang Burgers & Wangs is open Tuesday-Sunday from 3-8 p.m. with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays (until 10 p.m.).

Tired to go 3x but closed all the times. Their website/FB sucks. I’m interested in trying it!

Thanks WPL, I guess the snow kept them from opening on Sat and Sun…

Went last night liked it. Food was good and reasonably priced. I’d go back. We got the asian wings and would definitely get them again.
