Police and fire crews have responded to a report of a strong odor coming out from a home on the north side of the 4800 block of Cedar Avenue on Monday, at around 5:30 p.m. Several residences were evacuated and the block is closed to traffic while police are searching for a marijuana growing operation on the block, according to reports.
NBC10 is reporting that marijuana was growing on “all four floors” (apparently including the basement) of the home.

@davod I’m not sure why WPL allows such comments. Your remark is not only false but offensive. But it seems like you enjoy the delusion of moral high ground (even if it means demeaning others. You are part of the problem not the solution. No surprise our country is so divided. Pretty pathetic.

Screwbopper! It’s seems like hydroponic (growing plants without soil for those who’ve never heard of it) is all the rage right now. Marijuana isn’t the only thing being grown indoors. Also, herbs, spices, even lettuce and sometimes cabbage. It’s interesting and a unique form a botany that may replace the concept of the garden as cities become more populated and we continue to grow upward like in many Asian cities. Gardens will one day be considered antiquated. 🙂

I cant help but feel like this is at least a reminder that the old west philly is still alive and well in some corners even if hiding under wraps. When i moved here a long time ago, grow ops werent exactly rare. Sounds like these people just went ‘a little oversized’. maybe they didnt get the gentrification memo for that block lol lol
