Taco Angeleno, the popular Mexican food truck that operates in Cedar Park May through October, is not going to reopen this spring, according to an announcement on the business’s Facebook page.

“Dear taco buds, as Summer vibes draw near I want to sadly inform you that Taco Angeleno will be closed until further notice,” the Facebook post reads. “We’ve enjoyed getting to know all of you loyal and kind taco lovers but running a small business is full of unique challenges and they force us to change sometimes. We’re not sure what’s to come next but please stay tuned to discover how we will serve West Philly in the future.”

Taco Angeleno officially opened at 5019 Baltimore Ave. in May 2014, a year after the truck began serving tacos, burritos and quesadillas at parties and events. Owner Vanessa Jerolmack had to wait a year before opening her business at that location due to zoning issues. She obtained a temporary zoning exception/permit from the Zoning Board of Adjustments for a take-out restaurant to operate on the lot in November 2013. The zoning permit would expire this year.

I found it supremely difficult to run a business. Permits, Tax structures, various insurance and payroll compliance issues conspired to capsize my family run business. And, of course, the matter of heightened liability due to what is know in the insurance industry as “the Philly Factor” conspire to make a business owner / job provider specifically “stress disordered” after running a Philadelphia based business. I had to work as an employee at another firm for 4 years before I realized just how traumatized I felt having been a business owner and job provider all those decades. Support small local businesses whenever you can. It’s us or Amazon doing the wheeling and dealing. Think twice! I need take this advise more myself.
