University City District (UCD) has announced the return of their signature summer events this summer, including Baltimore Avenue Dollar Stroll and 40th Street Summer Concert Series. UCD has released their 2018 “Summer in University City” event schedule, so check out what’s happening this spring, summer and early fall:

40th Street Summer Series

The 40th Street Summer Series, co-produced by University City District, the University of Pennsylvania, and The Rotunda, returns to the green area behind the Walnut Street Library at 40th Street with free monthly concerts and
performances. This year’s programming offers a wide array of musical styles and performers and will run on five Saturdays from May through September. 

Confirmed headliners include:
• May 19: Dual headliners Dan Blacksberg’s Hot Klezmer + West Philadelphia Orchestra
• June 23: Thee Phantom and Illharmonic Orchestra
• July 14: Las Cafeteras
• Aug. 18: TBA
• Sept. 15: New Sound Brass

Baltimore Avenue Dollar Stroll

The Baltimore Avenue Dollar Stroll, presented in association with the Baltimore Avenue Business Association (BABA), will return on June 7th and September 13th from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. During this event, Baltimore Avenue between 43rd and 52nd Streets showcases its charm with $1 bargains from neighborhood favorites along with
additional food and street entertainment. Grab everything from bites from signature restaurants to pet supplies to theater tickets, and much more. See the list of participating businesses for the June 7th event here.

University City Dining Days

University City Dining Days returns to the neighborhood this year from Thursday, July 12 through Sunday, July 22.
Dining Days is UCD’s “3 Courses, 3 Prices” promotion at many of University City’s most popular dining destinations. This year, new participants include Taiwanese street food spot Danlu, upscale casual Bernie’s Restaurant & Bar, and the sleek new Walnut Street Café in the lobby of the new FMC Tower. Movies in Clark Park

UCD, in partnership with Philadelphia Parks and Recreation and Friends of Clark Park, will once again present Movies in Clark Park, four weeks of free outdoor movies. Each screening will be preceded by fun activities and offerings from local organizations and businesses. The schedule this year will be:

• Aug. 10: Back to the Future
• Aug. 17: Coco
• Aug. 24: A Wrinkle in Time
• Aug. 31: Black Panther
