What to do on New Year’s Eve/ New Year’s Day

If you’re looking for something to do on New Year’s Eve and/or New Year’s Day, check out events below, plus some useful information on SEPTA service during these days.

There will be two New Year’s Eve fireworks shows on the Delaware River waterfront – at 6 p.m. and midnight. There are several locations where you can watch the show, including Penn’s Landing, Race Street Pier, and more. For more details, go here.

SEPTA will have enhanced New Year’s Eve service on Broad Street and Market-Frankford lines on New Year’s Eve: 

• Trains will operate all-night service on New Year’s Eve.
• Trains will operate on a regular weekday schedule.
• Additional Broad Street and Market-Frankford Line trains have been added to accommodate crowds traveling to Penn’s Landing for Fireworks.

All SEPTA buses, except the Route 204, will operate on a regular weekday schedule. Several bus routes will be temporarily detoured on 15th Street between JFK. Blvd. and Chestnut St. to accommodate preparations for the Mummers Parade. The temporary detour will be in effect from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Customers should follow @SEPTA_Bus for service information throughout the day.

If you’re planning to attend the 2019 Mummers Parade on New Year’s Day, go here for more information. The parade kicks off at 9 a.m. Please note that SEPTA buses, trains, and trolleys will operate on a Sunday schedule on New Year’s Day. For more info, visit: septa.org.
