Police are looking for a male suspect who shot and wounded a 37-year-old man on Monday night near 52nd and Hazel. The man, who works as an attorney for Ballard Spahr, according to reports, was walking home at around 10:20 p.m. when an unknown young male ran up to him from behind and shot him in the chest when the victim was “ready to fight,” according to an interview with 6ABC.
Police believe it was an attempted robbery. The suspect fled the scene right after the shooting, according to police.
The victim was able to call the police and was taken to the hospital. He is expected to survive.
The suspect is described as a Black male in his 20’s, small to average height, with facial hair. He was wearing a dark colored knit hat, a dark colored jacket or hooded sweatshirt (possibly both), and blue jeans. He was was armed with a handgun (manufacturer and model unknown).
Currently, police are reviewing video from surveillance cameras in the area. They say there was another robbery at gun point near 52nd and Addison on Monday night. It’s not clear whether these two cases are related.
