Meet primary election candidates at two community events

March 15, 2019

Here are two opportunities for community members to meet candidates in the May 21 primary election.

The 27th Ward democrats are inviting friends and neighbors for a Spring Shindig at Clarkville (43rd and Baltimore), which will take place Monday, March 18, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. This is an opportunity to meet and mingle with local Democratic candidates running for office, including Congressman Dwight Evans, who will be a special guest at the event.

This is also a fundraising event supporting the 27th Ward democrats. Tickets are $20 in advance, or sliding scale at the door (no one will be turned away).

A group of West Philly organizations – Cedar Park Neighbors, Cobbs Creek Neighbors, Garden Court Community Association, Walnut Hill  Community Association, and the Springfield Huddle – are hosting a candidates meeting for the row office races, which include the Sheriff, Register of Wills, and City Commissioners (they oversee the elections). This meeting will take place on Thursday, March 21 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, 48th and Baltimore.

Row office races usually don’t get as much attention but are very important for good governance, so the meeting is a great opportunity to hear from the candidates and ask questions.

Michael Froehlich, former president of Cedar Park Neighbors, will moderate the meeting.
