Massive auto body shop fire near 59th and Spruce takes almost three hours to contain

A 3-alarm fire broke out on Monday morning at a large auto body shop located at 59th and Irving, according to multiple reports. The fire broke out shortly after 10 a.m. and soon the whole building was engulfed in flames:

The garage and nearby buildings, including Sayre High School across the street and a daycare center, were evacuated as a precaution. One of the walls of the burning building collapsed onto an adjacent building, according to reports, but the fire didn’t spread.

The fire was placed under control at 12:45 p.m.. The investigation is underway on the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported.
