The Cedar Park Neighbors community organization has launched their 2020 Holiday Food Drive, the event held annually since 1985. This year, the food drive and volunteer event that brings holiday meals to dozens of neighborhood families every year, has some changes due to health safety reasons for both recipient families and volunteers and the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
This season, in lieu of holiday food baskets, CPN will work with their community partners to distribute grocery store gift cards safely to families.
There is no suggested amount for donations; any amount is welcome. Donations are now being accepted on the CPN Holiday Food Drive website or you can send a check to: Cedar Park Neighbors with Memo line “Holiday Baskets”, 4740 Baltimore Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19143.
CPN is still hoping to reach as many families as possible this season with neighbors’ financial support. The organization’s Holiday Baskets committee is exploring how best to help families not currently connected to one of their local partner community and religious organizations.
“Next year, we very much hope to return to the regular Holiday Baskets Food Drive format,” reads a message on the CPN Holiday Food Drive website. “Over the decades, this program has become far more than just a volunteer event.”
