COVID-19 Vaccine News: Mass vaccination clinic to open at USciences; Employer registration now available

February 10, 2021

More mass COVID-19 vaccination clinics are expected to open around the city by the end of this month, including in West Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Department of Public Health has announced this week that six mass vaccination clinics will operate each week beginning February 22 at the following locations:

Community Academy of Philadelphia Charter School in Harrowgate; the Martin Luther King Older Adult Center in North Philadelphia; and the University of the Sciences (USciences) in West Philadelphia.

Currently, people eligible to receive a COVID vaccine in Philadelphia include:

• Healthcare workers and nursing home residents (Phase 1A);

• Essential workers, senior residents (75+) and people with high-risk medical conditions (Phase 1B; more details are available here). This group includes about 400,000 people and not everyone in this group is currently eligible to receive the vaccine. Read more about the prioritization within this group here.

The City has also announced that employers can now register with the Department of Public Health to vaccinate their workers as they become eligible. The sign-up form can be found here.

Philadelphia is now receiving around 25,000 COVID vaccine doses per week from the federal government, a slight increase from the previous several weeks (around 20,000 doses).

As of February 9th, over 129,000 people in Philadelphia have received the first dose of the vaccine, and nearly 55,000 people have received the second dose.

Information on how to pre-register for a COVID vaccine can be found here.
