It is planned to reopen all school buildings for in-person learning by the end of this month, pending on the review of their safety by the PFT.
Students in grades preK-2 are currently eligible to return to classrooms as part of the School District’s hybrid learning model. Older students will be phased in later. No additional dates have been announced.
To prepare for in-person learning, parents and families are encouraged to view the District’s Safe Return to School and Clean and Healthy Schools videos, and visit philasd.org/aes to learn more about the many layers of safety the District has in place.
The city has also been vaccinating school teachers and staff against COVID. About 9,000 Philadelphia educators have already received a first dose of the Pfizer vaccine through the vaccination program in partnership with CHOP. By the end of this week, all 20,000 staff who have expressed their interest to get vaccinated are expected to get their first shot.
