The Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) today celebrated the halfway point in construction for its highly anticipated state-of-the-art teaching and learning facility in West Philadelphia. The college held a midpoint ceremony for its Career and Advanced Technology Center (CATC) located at the southeast corner of 48th and Market.
Stakeholders and community partners received updates at today’s event on the programming and learning opportunities the CATC will provide. They also signed a stud with a permanent marker to be placed within the inner walls of the building and participated in a guided tour of the facility.
“The CATC will offer state-of-the-art features that will lead students to in-demand careers, provide technical resources and spaces for public use, and serve as an innovation hub for small businesses and entrepreneurs,” College President Dr. Donald Guy Generals said at the event.
The new learning facility will offer for-credit and noncredit courses to support Philadelphia’s transportation, manufacturing and health care fields.
Building features will include energy efficient design that utilizes a high amount of natural lighting, a green rooftop for students and community members, a second floor patio with an adjoining room for events that can accommodate 75-100 guests, learning commons and multiple conference rooms for student collaboration.
The new facility is expected to open in 2022. More information and images can be found at: ccp.edu/catc.
