Mail-in ballot drop-off events begin this Saturday

October 21, 2021

The Philadelphia City Commissioners will again be partnering with the Philadelphia Eagles to hold a mobile staffed mail-in and absentee ballot drop-off event at Lincoln Financial Field ahead of the Nov. 2 General Election. The event with the Eagles will take place on Saturday, Oct. 23, from Noon until 2 p.m. in Lot K at Lincoln Financial Field. Personnel from the Board of Elections will be on hand to collect the ballots.

Another mobile ballot drop-off event will take place in West Philadelphia on the same day. From 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., residents have a chance to drop off their voted absentee or mail-in ballot at W.C. Longstreth Elementary School, 5700 Willows Ave. For more mobile ballot drop-off events scheduled in other city neighborhoods, click here.

In addition to these mobile events, voters can also use the 24/7 ballot drop boxes at the Board of Elections Office at City Hall, Room 140. Voters may drop off only their own ballot, unless they are physically unable to personally submit their ballot and have designated an agent to do so (the completed forms must be submitted with the ballot).

Absentee and mail-in ballots must be received by the County Board of Elections before 8 p.m. on Election Day, November 2nd.

“Voters, if you still have your ballot, please vote and get it back to us ASAP. Do not hold on to it,” City Commissioners’ Chairwoman Lisa Deeley said in a statement. “Either mail it back, use one of our 24/7 drop boxes, or bring it to one of our drop-off events. We want you to vote in this election and we want to receive your ballot back in time to be counted.”

The West Philly ballot drop-off situation is not so great.

It looks like there is a SINGLE fixed drop-off box for the whole of the area: at the Shepard Rec Ctr at 5700 Haverford Ave. Gee! I wonder why there’s only one!
There is no sign about where it is at the Haverford entrance of this large center.
It is to the right of the 57th St. entrance… just a small box – the same size as an old corner mail-box.
