Benefit concert for Ukraine to be held at The Rotunda

April 1, 2022

There’s a chance to support Ukraine in West Philly. A benefit concert, titled Philly Loves Ukraine, will be held next Friday, April 8 at The Rotunda (40th and Walnut). The concert is featuring well-known local brass band West Philadelphia Orchestra and Sing Slavic, a West Philly-based ensemble.

“Ukrainians are currently facing a brutal invasion simply because of existing as a sovereign state striving for a freer, more democratic, and less corrupt future,” reads a message from the event organizer, Philly Stands With Ukraine (Facebook page). “Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, thousands of people have been killed, and more than 3 million people have fled their homes. To show our support for Ukrainians whose peace, freedom, and lives are threatened, we are organizing a benefit concert in West Philly.”

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased here. Donation only tickets are also available for those who can’t make it to the concert. All proceeds will go to Revived Soldiers Ukraine, a non-profit organization providing humanitarian aid and medical supplies to soldiers of Ukraine and their families.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30). The organizers are asking all attendees over the age of 2 to wear a mask.

The people of Ukraine need our solidarity, but I’m concerned to see that the beneficiary organization is supporting multiple Azov Battalion soldiers: https://www.rsukraine.org/our-work/yearly-reports

I wonder if it might be possible for them to find another way to support the people of Ukraine with the funds raised?

If 10% of donations to Revived Soldiers Ukraine go to Azov Battalion soldiers and 10% of Azov soldiers are racist, than 99% of donations go to non racist soldiers.
