Spruce Hill Tot Parade, Family Fun Day, and more Halloween/Fall events for children (updated)

Families are invited to take part in fun Halloween/Fall events hosted by local non-profit organizations: Spruce Hill Community Association, Penn Museum, The Woodlands, and CinéSPEAK. Here are more details:

Halloween Family Fun Day

UPDATE: This event has been cancelled due to rain in the forecast for Sunday, Oct. 23.

The Woodlands (40th and Woodland), is hosting its annual Halloween Family Fun Day. This year’s Family Fun Day will feature a pop up Mini Mütter Museum, and performances by Karen Smith’s “Spiritual Atmosferic Cleansing” and Tangle Movement Arts. Philadelphia Orchard Project’s (POP) Learning Orchard, located at The Woodlands, will be open for visitors throughout the event. Go here for more details.

Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) at the Penn Museum

Saturday, Oct. 29, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Día de los Muertos: CultureFest! is returning to the Penn Museum! In partnership with the Mexican Cultural Center, the Mexican Consulate in Philadelphia, and Norristown’s Ballet Folklorico Yaretzi, the Penn Museum will showcase Mexico’s vibrant traditions at this popular annual event. The all-day festival will feature an artisan market and make-and-take activities, along with live performances. Go here for more info.

cinéSPEAK presents Coraline and Community Party

Saturday, Oct. 29, 5:00 p.m.

cinéSPEAK is hosting a free movie night, featuring Coraline, and community party for all ages at Pentridge Station Pop-Up (5110-5120 Pentridge St). Doors and DJ open at 5:00 p.m., followed by a Spooky Storytime and Costume Contest at 6:00 p.m. The film screening starts at 7:00 p.m. This is a free event, but donations are greatly appreciated. Spruce Hill Halloween Tot Parade

Monday, Oct. 31, 4:00 p.m.

Tots and their parents/guardians are invited to gather at 45th and Larchwood on October 31 at 4 p.m., and then march to the 4200 block of Osage Avenue to enjoy cider, baked goods, and other treats. Hosted by The Spruce Hill Community Association, this is a great annual tradition in this West Philly neighborhood.
