Caring People Alliance West Philadelphia Boys & Girls Club (5843-55 Catherine St.), in Cobbs Creek, announced the opening of its new, 10-week summer camp, offering a wide range of engaging activities and educational experiences for children in the community ages 2-18.
The Caring People Alliance celebrated the first week of camp with a community-wide block party last Thursday. Councilwoman Jamie Gauthier joined campers and staff, as a mural made by the campers was unveiled to commemorate the occasion. The mural showcased the handprints of all the children already enrolled in the camp and contained each camper’s aspirations for the summer. Councilwoman Gauthier added her handprint to the mural.
The newly established summer camp offers a diverse range of activities tailored to engage young minds and combat summer learning loss. Campers will be able to swim, spend time with the animals in the humane education program, learn robotics with Temple STEM educators, and so much more, ensuring a well-rounded and exciting summer for all attendees.
One hundred children are currently registered for the camp, and spots are still available for more. This summer camp experience is free for middle and high school students and subsidized for younger children, providing an opportunity for them to expand their horizons while staying safe and occupied during the summer season.
Parents and guardians can register their children and find more information at https://www.caringpeoplealliance.org/our-programs/summer-camp.
