SEPTA’s holiday schedule

If you’re planning to use SEPTA during the holidays, please make sure to check modified schedules for Metro, bus and regional rail services.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

On Christmas Eve, Metro (SEPTA’s new name for the Market-Frankford, Broad Street and Norristown High Speed lines, and trolleys), buses and regional rail operate on a Sunday schedule.

On Christmas Day, Metro and bus routes will also operate on a Sunday schedule. The following bus routes are not operating on Christmas Day: 204, 310, 311 and LUCY.

All Regional Rail lines will run on special Christmas schedules with reduced Sunday service.

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day

The Broad Street and Market-Frankford lines will operate on Sunday schedules on New Year’s Eve. Additional trains will operate before and after the New Year’s Eve fireworks at Penn’s Landing, with late night trains available.

Buses and trolleys will run on Sunday schedule. In preparation for the Mummers Parade, the following bus routes are detoured from noon to 8 p.m. on 15th Street between JFK Boulevard and Chestnut Street: 4, 16, 17, 27, 31, 32, 33, 44, 48, 124 and 125.

Regional Rail trains will operate on Sunday schedules with special late-night service.

On New Year’s Day, Metro (includes MFL, BSL, Norristown High Speed Line, and trolleys), buses and Regional Rail will also operate on a Sunday schedule. The following bus routes will not operate on New Year’s Day: 204, 310, 311 and LUCY.

Mummers Parade Bus Detours 

The following SEPTA bus routes will operate on a temporary detour: 2, 4, 9, 12, 16, 17, 21, 27, 31, 32, 33, 38, 40, 42, 44, 45, 48, 49, 64, 124, 125, BSO and MFO. Detours will begin as early as 3 a.m. on December 31 on certain routes.
