Manzanita, a new vintage boutique, has opened at 42nd and Baltimore.

Here’s some exciting news for local fans of vintage goodies. Manzanita, a new vintage boutique, has opened at 4206 Baltimore Ave.

“Manzanita is a brand celebrating the diverse and inclusive neighborhood of WEST PHILADELPHIA with future vintage curated to current perfection, boutique goods to enliven and inspire, and VIBES FOR DAYS!” the shop owner, Dorit Avganim, posted on Instagram.

The shop could be a great place to shop for unique gifts. It also hosts various events. For example, this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 26 & 27, the store, in collaboration with West Philly tattoo artist Jillian Christofferson, is offering hand poked tattoos. Manzanita’s hours of operation are: Tuesday-Friday 11 a.m.- 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. and Sunday 12-6 p.m.

Adrienne Williams

Unfortunately, Freebird Greenery, a plant shop and community space that opened in Garden Court in 2022, has closed earlier this month.

“After much consideration, we have made the decision to close our storefront at Freebird Greenery,” owner Adrienne Williams posted on the shop’s Instagram page. “We just wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for all the incredible support we’ve received from each and every one of you. Being a part of the vibrant West Philly community has been an absolute joy, and we will truly miss being right here with you.”

While she had to close the storefront, Adrienne, who is passionate about plants, community and self-care, has plans for more activity in the future.

“This is not the end of Freebird Greenery. We’ll be taking some time for rest and reflection, and we’ll share the plans for the future.”
