UPDATE: UC Green will host their annual TreeCycle event on Saturday, Jan. 11 at Clark Park and Malcolm X Park. Stay tuned for more details.
The City’s Department of Sanitation will kick off its annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program on Monday, Jan. 6. The program offers residents various opportunities to dispose of their tree in an environmentally-friendly way. Recycled trees are sent to a vendor that chips them up as a bulking agent for composting.
While the program is running, residents may bring their Christmas tree at no charge to one of several designated locations or to a nearby sanitation convenience center.
In West Philadelphia, the designated drop-off locations include:
43rd & Powelton Ave.
Open: January 11 and January 18
Hours: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
54th & Woodbine Ave.
Open: January 11 and January 18
Hours: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The nearest Sanitation Convenience Center is located at 5100 Grays Ave., open daily, except Sundays, from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Before dropping off your tree please make sure it is untied and has no decorations on it.
Residents can also use private Christmas tree pick-up services with the following companies:

Circle Compost
