December 5, 2014

This cute little pooch was found tonight at 48th and Springfield. The person who found it was able to find a shelter for the dog for the night. The dog has a collar, but no tags. It will be taken to the PSPCA in the morning. If you have any information about this dog or its owners please leave a comment below or email: editor[at]westphillylocal.com

A friend seeing this picture on Facebook told me that this dog was a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel which is a relatively rare breed.

Where is this little guy now?

Which location of PSPCA was this guy turned into? Their adoptions office told me they only took in larger strays since Friday.

Does anyone now for a fact that the pooch was taken to a shelter? I imagine there are a few folks in the ‘hood who’d love to foster this one. fyi, PSPCA is not an in-take facility for strays. ACCT is the city’s in-take facility for strays and unwanted pets. PSPCA takes unwanted pets, but for a fee. Some unclaimed strays eventually go from ACCT to PSPCA for adoption, others go to foster homes and rescue groups. Many don’t make it out of the shelter system. Fancy breeds of dogs and cats, if adoptable, often go to breed specific rescue groups.

If the dog was taken to a shelter someone should be posting the shelter ID # here, in case someone wants to claim/adopt/foster…
