A building on the 5000 block of Warrington partially collapsed this morning, injuring a man inside a vehicle. The incident was reported shortly after 6 a.m.. The man was reportedly trapped in the car by the bricks that crushed it after the building collapse. The collapse sent bricks as far as the other side of the street. The man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, 6ABC reports.
It’s not known what caused the collapse of the building, and if there was anyone inside it. Fire officials were on scene checking the building, and inspectors from Licences and Inspection were expected to arrive, according to 6 ABC.

I spoke with the man who was injured this morning and stuck in his car. He was emptying out his trunk. He is OK although he said his head still hurts and his neck is sore. He also had a cut on his finger. He seemed in good spirits.

If you want to see a really scary BEFORE photo of this building, go to the satellite view on Google maps. It looks like a bomb hit the roof. It was pretty much a shell. The building next to it isn’t much better. Where is L & I?

^^ The answer there is that L&I says nobody complained about the roof. I was by there too, and chatted with an inspector, who told me that the building was clean and didn’t have any registered citizen complaints. I mentioned that Google Earth showed the roof’s been down for some time, and he said, “well, somebody shoulda put in a complaint.” I said, “you’re right.”

Yep, trees growing out of a roof is usually not a good sign.
How soon do you think it will take to build some fine student housing on the site?
