To help put riders in the seasonal spirit, some SEPTA drivers have again decorated their trolleys with tinsel, lights, bows and bells, so … the Jolly Trolleys are back!
Operators used hundreds of lights, yards of garland and tons of ornaments, all to make the season brighter for their passengers.
The festive trolleys can be found on the following routes:
• Trolley # 2336, operated on Route 15
• Trolley #9053, operated on Route 10
• Trolley #9031 operated on the Routes 11 and 36
And this trolley even has music playing in the car. Pretty awesome!
Yo there’s another Jolly Trolley and it’s got 🎶 Car #9053 pic.twitter.com/tnKgCMwmIw

If you spot a Jolly Trolley or especially ride in one, let us know in the comments. We only got lucky once last year.

This really makes me happy. I am fairly new to Philadelphia and this is my first Christmas and so far I really love how happy Christmas seems to make us. These trolleys are so beautiful and colorful. I took one home from work and I work in Center of City and I just smiled the whole ride and I heard that some play Christmas songs. These are open to the public and for me, a little reminder of my home town where the entire town is so excited for Christmas. Rave on, West Philly 🙂

My idea of a jolly trolley is one that is on-time. Evidently, SEPTA and I disagree on this definition, hence this seasonal abomination.

Love these! Just wondering if anyone knows: why is there almost never a Route 34 jolly trolley? Seems like Baltimore Ave is missing out!

I think the trolley would be even jollier with a little hot chocolate or ginger bread. T’is the season, y’all!!

Hooray! Props to the drivers who continue this festive tradition

Glad4Santa, the trolleys are decorated by the drivers who pay for the decorations out-of-pocket.

I was on a Jolly Trolley for first time the other day and it was great! A Route 10. I was surprised at the extent of the decorations – it clearly took the driver some time! And he had Christmas music playing as well. It was really nice! =)

Strongfouru, thanks for letting me know. I wasn’t sure if the decorations were paid by SEPTA or maybe out of a holiday account or donated or what but just knowing that the driver took just a little extra time to really bring the beauty of Christmas to the riders, I will thank the driver of a jolley trolley this week for paying for the decorations themselves. I just think it’s the little things we do for each other around Christmas to show that even though life is a little bit busy and hectic sometimes, we can actually remember the meaning of Christmas and apply some of that joy to other people also.
