New Year’s Eve Fireworks on the Waterfront

There will be not one but two New Year’s Eve fireworks on the Delaware River waterfront. The first one is scheduled for 6 p.m. (good time for kids), and the other one will be at midnight. This is a free event. Here you can find best spots where you can watch the fireworks.

New Year’s Eve Parties/Concerts

• J.S. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio at Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral (38th and Chestnut), 4 – 8 p.m.

Choral Arts Philadelphia and the Bach Festival of Philadelphia, led by Artistic Director Matthew Glandorf, will offer a rare performance of J.S. Bach’s complete Christmas Oratorio BWV 248. The concert will include an extended intermission, food and drink concessions. For more information and tickets ($15-$45), click here

• World Cafe Live (3025 Walnut St) will host two New Year’s Eve events:

  • New Year’s Eve with the David Bromberg Quintet – 10 p.m. (doors open at 8:30). $60 floor – $80 mezzanine + fees. Tickets are available here.
  • New Year’s Eve with Darla and Phil Nicolo’s Eve of Deconstruction – upstairs – 10 p.m. (doors open at 9). Tickets: $22 in advance, $25 + fees DOS.

• New Year’s Eve bash at XFINITY Live! Philadelphia (1100 Pattison Ave):

Ring in your New Year at XFINITY Live! and get access to five great bars and clubs all under one roof. The all-inclusive ticket gets you a premium drink package, food buffets, live performances from Split Decision and other artists, dancing, and a midnight ball drop celebration with a champagne toast. Doors open at 9 p.m. Tickets: $90-$150. 21+.

New Year’s Day Mummers Parade

The annual Mummers Parade, the festive Philadelphia event with a 120-year-old history, starts at 9 a.m. on Jan. 1 at City Hall and marches south on Broad Street to Washington Avenue. The Fancy Brigade Finale is from 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. More information is available here.

Local 44 8th Anniversary Beer Bash

Local 44 is turning eight years old and is throwing a week-long celebration (through Sunday, Jan. 1), featuring special rotating all local drafts, an extra early start to Happy Hour and menu specials all week long. Plus brunch served Noon-10 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1. Click here for more info.
