Jane’s Walk offers free neighborhood walks this weekend

Jane’s Walk, a global movement of free, locally led walking tours inspired by the legacy of writer and urban activist Jane Jacobs, returns to Philadelphia May 3-5 with more than 30 walks planned! Five of those walks will be held in West and Southwest Philadelphia. Here are more details:

Friday, May 3:

2:30 p.m.: The Penn Campus and Its Perimeter: Old and New Architecture
Meet walk leader David Hollenberg (UPenn/architect) at 40th and Locust streets 

5 p.m.: Stroll from Trolley Portal Gardens to 40th & Market
Meet walk leader Nate Hommel (University City District) at 40th St. and Baltimore Ave.

6 p.m.: Cobbs Creek Nature
Meet walk leader Tony Croasdale (Philadelphia Parks & Recreation) at the Cobbs Creek Community Environmental Center (700 Cobbs Creek Parkway).

Saturday, May 4:

3 p.m.: Looking for Lancaster!
Meet walk leaders Dana Rice, Eli Storch, Veronica Ayala-Flores (Design Advocacy Group) at 38th St. and Lancaster Ave., outside the former octagonal bank.

Sunday, May 5:

11 a.m.: Pondering Utopia at Pepper Middle School
Meet walk leaders Kate and Michael Bixler at 84th and Lyons Streets in Eastwick.
