Registration is now open for the School District of Philadelphia’s new “Digital Academy” for those Philadelphia public school students who would like to stay home while the COVID-19 epidemic continues. The digital academy allows families to opt in to a 100 percent virtual learning and instructional model for students enrolled in grades K-12.
Students registering for the Digital Academy must remain in that model throughout the first two terms of the academic year, and will only be able to transition out at the start of the third term.
The District announced last week a hybrid model for the 2020-2021 school year, which begins Sept. 2. The plan includes two days a week in the classroom for most students (except special education students with “complex needs” and pre-K students who will be offered four-day in-class instruction). Students can also opt in the full-time remote learning, registration for which launched today.
You can learn more about the Digital Academy and the District’s full plan for the 2020-2021 school year by visiting philasd.org/schoolstart2020. To submit an application for the digital academy, click here. The deadline to express interest in the Digital Academy Program is Tuesday, Aug. 4.
