Baltimore Avenue Dollar Stroll to return this summer; Applications accepted from community vendors

April 14, 2022

One of the most popular local outdoor events, the Baltimore Avenue Dollar Stroll, is set to return this summer.

University City District (UCD), the longtime organizer of the event, is planning two Strolls this year – on Thursday, June 16 and Thursday, Sept. 15, each from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Over the years, the event has drawn thousands of visitors, both local residents and guests, who enjoyed dollar deals from participating vendors. In 2022, the price levels for vendor offers will be expanded from $1 deals to deals for $1, $3, or $5.

UCD is now accepting applications from both community food vendors and community merchandise vendors to join in this event as official participants. The purpose of selecting official vendors is to ensure all vendors are in compliance with various City agencies, including the Philadelphia Health Department and the Philadelphia Department of Licenses & Inspection (L&I).

UCD will include all selected vendors in promotional materials, including in printed maps handed out the evening of each Dollar Stroll event.

If you are a community vendor interested in selling either food or merchandise, please email Margaret Leidy Starke, Senior Manager of Events and Community Partnerships, at margaret@universitycity.org.

Please note that only vendors selected by UCD and approved by the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Special Events will be able to operate at this event. Priority will be given to vendors based within the five zip codes of West Philadelphia (19104, 19131, 19139, 19143, or 19151).

Why is the Baltimore Stroll being held on Thursdays? Limited access for those who work during the day and limiting vendors ability to make more money.
