A Book a Day proudly presents “Community Voices,” a fundraiser celebrating the power of community, storytelling, and art to promote creative learning and lifelong curiosity among children in diverse and underserved communities.
What to Expect:
• Community Dialogue: Beloved children’s book author Thembi Palmer will guide us in conversation as our emcee for the evening.
• Speaker: President of the Black Child Development Institute, Mrs. Lola M Rooney, will be our guest speaker of the evening.
• Poetry reading: A special performance by Lea Elementary School graduates will illuminate the powerful impact of combining literacy with art.
• Silent Auction: Bid on exclusive, one-of-a-kind items, such as a private group workshop with Philadelphia-based artist and comic book creator Dave White or a personalized book basket curated by the ABaD team just for you!
• Local Refreshments: Enjoy delicious food and beverages crafted with local and seasonal ingredients.
