October 25, 2024

The 2024 general election will take place Nov. 5, when registered voters can cast their votes in person at the polling locations around the city, but here are a few reminders for those who want to vote earlier.

Voter registration has been closed, but those who have registered can still apply for a mail-in or absentee ballot until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29. The Philadelphia City Commissioners has opened ten Satellite Election Offices throughout the city, one in each council district, where voters can apply for a mail-in or absentee ballot, complete it, and/or return it. All election offices are open Mon-Fri 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sat-Sun 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Here are the election offices in West and Southwest Philadelphia:

2nd Council District

6100 Woodland Ave
Philadelphia, PA 19142

3rd Council District

4029 Market Street
Philadelphia, PA 19104

4th Council District

In addition, there are mail ballot drop boxes (see photo) at various locations throughout the city, open and accessible 24/7 through 8 p.m. on Election Day, including the following locations in West and Southwest Philly:

• Corner of 50th St & Kingsessing Ave, 19143

The City Commissioners have also scheduled mobile ballot drop-off events to help make returning your mail ballot easier. One such event will take place in West Philadelphia. Voted mail ballots may be dropped off this Saturday, Oct. 26, 4-8 p.m. at a ballot drop-off event at The Mann Music Center, 5201 Parkside Ave.

Please note that voters may only drop off their own ballot, unless the voter is physically unable to personally submit their absentee or mail-in ballot, and has designated an agent to deliver their ballot, and the completed forms are submitted with the ballot.

Yes, go vote….and if you happen to be at the 3rd council district voting location, turn around and see the container that Rep. Amen Brown has parked on a bike lane for years….and then think if you want to vote for him
