Adopt-a-Cat: The Boog

July 18, 2011

The Boog
The Boog

A 12-year old female cat, Hallie a.k.a. The Boog (short for “Boogie”), is looking for a new home. She needs to be in a home without other cats. The home where she is right now has a blended family of four cats which does not work well for her. The Boog would be happier with another loving owner.

The Boog is black, declawed, vocal and feisty but loves to hang out with you and sit on your thigh, facing outward, while you pet her. She’s on the plump side, but has no health problems.

The Boog is up-to-date on vet care, shots, etc. She loves ham, yogurt and edamame. She likes to know what you are up to. She needs focused attention but can be happy by herself as well. She will use a litter box as long as she is the only cat using it. She has no special dietary requirements.

If you are interested please contact The Boog’s current owner at: hippieflanders [at] gmail.com.

Adopt-a-Dog: Dakota

July 14, 2011

Dakota - adoptable dog
Dakota needs a new home.

Today’s dog is Dakota, a male beagle.

Dakota is very good with kids and is house broken and trained in basic commands. His owners currently can’t handle their two dogs with a new baby and would love to find a loving home for him.

Dakota is also good with other dogs, but his owners are not sure about cats since he hasn’t been around any.

Dakota is up to date with all vaccinations, flea treatment and is neutered.

For more information please email: adriennebishop7 [at] gmail.com.

Adopt-a-Cat: Eggroll

July 11, 2011

Eggroll - cat available for adoption
Eggroll

Today’s cat is Eggroll, a young and lovely dilute torbico (tortoiseshell + calico markings). She’s about one year old. She has rather pointy ears and nose, indicating that she may have a bit of Siamese in her.

Eggroll was rescued by a social worker on a rainy day. She was wearing a flea collar that was way too big — probably because she had lost so much weight fending for herself on the streets.

She is active and playful, but enjoys affection and cuddling, too. She shares a foster home with several other cats and a small dog, and she’s always trying to get them to play.

Eggroll would do well in a home by herself or with another playful cat or dog to keep her company. She’s ready to find her forever home today.

She is spayed, FIV/FeLV negative, up to date on vaccinations, and has received flea/parasite preventative/treatment as needed.

If you would like to adopt Eggroll, please fill out an adoption application here. The adoption fee is $85 to help subsidize the cost of veterinary care.

Lost grey & white cat, 4200 block of Osage

July 9, 2011

Ziggy, grey & white cat missing
Ziggy.

From Linda Lee:

Ziggy is a very friendly indoor-outdoor cat, mostly grey, with white markings, missing from the 4200 block of Osage.  If you have seen him (or can capture him), please contact his owner (sarah.e.lopez [at] gmail.com) and also email me back (lml3 [at] verizon.net). I don’t think he’s wearing a collar.  Possible that he’s been picked up by someone, or may be trapped inside a building/basement, or injured. -LL

Adopt-a-Dog: Emma

July 7, 2011

Emma, pitbull available for adoption.
Emma

Please meet Emma, a sweet and fun loving Pitbull princess who is between one and two years old. Her owners surrendered her for adoption because they couldn’t care for her anymore.

Emma is the perfect combination of playful, energetic pup and mature, calm ex-momma dog. She has spunk and will let it shine when she gets the chance to play with another dog. She is very curious and interested in her surroundings – much like a puppy. At the same time, she settles down nicely and enjoys simply hanging out by your side. Getting her belly rubbed at the same time doesn’t hurt either.

Emma walks well on the leash. Since she weighs only about 45 lbs, she is very manageable with or without an easy walk harness.

She appears to be house trained and she is great in the car. There is nothing better than a dog that will roll up in the back seat and take a nap.

Emma - dog available for adoptionShe knows “sit”, “down” and “no”. She is super smart! She learned each one of these commands in the matter of 15 – 20 minutes. Fortunately, she is very treat motivated – or in human language: Emma is a foodie – which makes training her extremely easy.

Emma is already spayed, microchipped & up to date on all of her shots and therefore ready to go home (with you).

If  you want to adopt Emma please stop by the PSPCA’s Animal Care & Control Team (111 W. Hunting Park Avenue) or call: 267-385-3800. You can also consider fostering if you can’t adopt her permanently. Fostering saves not only Emma’s life but also the life of the dog that would move into her kennel at ACCT.
