Temporary foster home needed for Pit Mix Vinny (Updated 05/09)

May 4, 2011

Vinny - Pit Mix
Vinny

Update: Vinny has gone to a rescue group.

Vinny is a 3-5 year-old Pit Mix currently living at the PSPCA shelter. He urgently needs a temporary foster home. This came from a person who wants to adopt Vinny in a few months:

Can someone in West Philly near 50th and Baltimore foster this poor ringworm dog, Vinny? I can’t because of my current roommate situation – but I could come to your house to take care of him every day. I could walk him, feed him and play with him.

I am moving into my own apartment in a few months and would most likely be able to take on the fostering then. He is at the PSPCA and I want him to get out of there so he can heal, be in a loving environment, and not be at risk for being put down.

He has ringworm but the PSPCA will cover treatment and I think even obedience classes. This makes me really sad and I’m hoping someone can give him a chance. I have my own dog, so I know what I’m doing and would like him to have a playmate sometime. I would need to make sure they got along before fostering, though. Thanks.

You can find more photos and information about Vinny here. Reply to:

A short-haired gray cat missing near 49th & Hazel

April 8, 2011

Gray cat is missing
Marcel

This came from our neighbors at 49th & Hazel.

Hi. We are the new neighbors at 4905 Cedar…

My husband and I returned from a work trip yesterday to discover that our cat has gone missing. He is not an outdoor cat, but we fear he may have panicked and run outside when one of our contractors left a door open.

Our cat is a short-haired gray cat with green eyes. He would answer to the name Marcel but is quite skittish. I suspect he has found somewhere close by to hide.

If you have seen him please let us know. We are heart broken to have lost him.

Thanks,
Amy, Chris and Declan

If you’ve seen Marcel please contact Amy Hoover at: ahooverdesign(at)gmail.com

The Clark Park bowl will go to the dogs this Sunday with the second annual Lug-Nuts Weight Pull and a day of protective pooch maintenance.

Low-cost vaccines and microchipping ($20-25) will be available at the park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event, sponsored by P.A.W.S. Philadelphia and the Penn Vet Animal Welfare Society, will also include advice and deals on spay and neutering.

The highlight of the day is the weight pull, which kicks off at 1 p.m. No prior training is required to enter. No registration is required either. Just a willingness to strap on a harness. Everything from poodles to pit bulls to pomeranians are welcome to give the pull a try. Entrants receive free dog food. Free dog training and gifts will also be available.
