Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral

Add to calendar

A musical, literary, and artistic performance inspired by history’s most lovelorn poet, Francesco Petrarch, 650 years after his death. Piffaro, the Renaissance Band, New York City’s TENET Vocal Artists, and projection artist Camilla Tassi will transform the Cathedral, bringing to life Petrarch’s poetic journey through his great love for and rejection by (the real life) Laura, his grief at her untimely death, his defiant quest to immortalize her in poetry, and the promised solace of meeting again in Eternity. The music is from Renaissance Italy: light-hearted carnival songs, yearning madrigals, and spiritual sacred works. This concert is supported by the Paul M. Angell Family Foundation.
