The University City District and UC Green will again be accepting Christmas trees for recycling at Clark Park. Bring your tree to the park on Saturday, Jan. 7, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., along with a $10-$20 donation, and watch it turned into wood chip mulch (it will be used around neighborhood trees during the upcoming MLK Day of Service). As promised, here are more details about the upcoming Christmas Tree and Electronics Recycling Day, organized by the University City District and UC Green. You can get rid of your tree in an environmentally friendly way by bringing it to Clark Park (43rd and Chester) on Saturday, Jan. 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Recycled trees will be turned into wood chips to be used in local parks and community gardens, so please also bring a $10 donation along with your tree. Also enjoy free roasted marshmallows and hot chocolate while you’re watching your tree getting chipped.
This event is also a great chance to recycle old or unwanted household electronics. eForce Recycling, Philadelphia’s first certified Responsible Recycler will be at the park from 10 a.m – 2 p.m. accepting electronics from residents and small businesses with fewer than 50 employees. Please note that smoke detectors, large appliances (like washers and dryers and refrigerators), and projection TVs will not be accepted. There will be a $20 charge to dispose of CRT (tube) TVs and computer monitors.

Here are more details on the annual Christmas Tree and Electronics Recycling event at Clark Park.
The Tree-cycling event, sponsored by UC Green and University City District (UCD), will be held on Saturday, Jan. 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Clark Park (43rd and Chester). Christmas trees collected at the event will be turned into wood chips that will be used in neighborhood community gardens. A $10 donation per tree will go to support UC Green programs.
Also, if you have some old electronics piling up at your house, this is a great chance to get rid of them in an eco-friendly way. eForce Recycling folks will be at the park as well, so bring your old electronics along with your tree. You can drop off anything with a plug, except smoke detectors, large appliances, and projection TVs. Electronics recycling is free of charge, unless you want to bring an old CRT (cathode ray tube) TV or computer monitor. In this case it will cost $20. For more information, visit the eForce Recycling Facebook page or call 215-964-6665.
If you can’t make it to this event, please check other tree-cycling opportunities in the area.
