Man shot multiple times, killed Sunday afternoon on 5200 block of Cedar

A 30-year-old-man was shot multiple times and killed this afternoon on the 5200 block of Cedar Avenue, according to reports. The shooting took place shortly after 2:30 p.m., according to police. The man was shot at least three times – in the head, in the neck and in his left arm.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:59 p.m., according to police.

Police recovered a weapon on the scene. No arrests have been made as of this afternoon.

5-year-old boy found drowned in apartment near 48th and Pine; mother in custody

A 5-year-old boy was found unresponsive in a bathtub in an apartment on the 4800 block of Pine Street on Monday night, according to multiple reports. The boy was found by his father around 10 p.m. face down in the tub. He also had a cut on his neck, according to reports. He was rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead about an hour later.

The boy’s 40-year-old mother was also found inside the apartment with cuts on her wrists, according to reports. She was taken to the hospital and was listed in stable condition. She was being evaluated by mental health experts on Tuesday. No charges have been filed yet.

27-year-old man shot multiple times, killed near 52nd and Cedar

Gun violence in the city has claimed another victim. A 27-year-old man was shot multiple times and killed on the 600 block of S. 52nd Street on Monday night. The shooting took place at around 8:45 p.m., according to police. The victim was transported to Penn Presbyterian Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:12 p.m.

No arrests have been made and no weapon was recovered.

Young man in critical condition after shooting at 43rd and Chestnut

Police are investigating a shooting at 43rd and Chestnut Streets that left a young man in critical condition. The shooting took place on Sunday night shortly before 8 p.m. The victim, a man in his mid-20s, was shot twice, in his neck and shoulder. He was transported by police to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and was listed in critical condition.

No arrests have been made and no weapon was recovered.

Woman shot several times on 46th Street El platform

A 33-year-old woman was shot several times on the 46th Street platform of the Market-Frankford line just after 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

The unidentified woman was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and her condition is “unknown,” according to police. She was shot several times in the stomach and once in the leg. No weapon was recovered and no arrests were made as of Thursday morning, police said.

Deadly shooting at laundromat near 49th and Chester

A 28-year-old man died Thursday evening from multiple gunshot wounds near 49th and Chester, according to police. The shooting took place at about 6:30 p.m., reportedly inside a laundromat located on the 1000 block of S. 49th Street.

Three unidentified men approached the victim and began firing. The victim, later identified by the police as Shawn Best, a Philadelphia resident, was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was pronounced dead at 6:56 p.m.

The victim was reportedly with two children and there were about 10 other people inside the laundromat at the time of the shooting, according to NBC Philadelphia. No other injuries were reported.  Continue Reading
