Neighbor Margie is looking for a foster home for her kitten Perry:
“In early January, during our first cold spell, I rescued a mother and 3 kittens from under a porch on 49th St. The mother and two of the kittens are in stable situations (one kitten is adopted, another possibly adopted).
Unfortunately, the third kitten, Perry, has a mild physical condition that requires some extra care. He has been with a cat rescue friend the last two weeks (while I was away), but she can’t keep him past tomorrow. I really can’t have him back in my place! My old cats (19 and 14 years old) won’t tolerate him. They are so glad that I’m back, and are spending a lot of time with me. I’d hate to lock them out of the office (I work at home). Also, it’s very hard for me to work with Perry in the office and he only wants to play; I really don’t have anywhere else he could be.
Would you consider fostering Perry? It would only likely be for a couple of weeks. He would love to have a cat(s) to play with, and he is okay with dogs. He behaves totally normal and has lots of energy. He is a purr machine! He needs to have his butt wiped twice a day, and should eat soft canned food mixed with water and fish oil (which I would provide) to keep his stools loose, and can’t use clay litter. He has been neutered and had his first round of shots. Would anyone here like to have adorable Perry in their lives for a short while? I would SOOO appreciate it.”
If you would like to foster Perry, please contact Margie at: margie [at] mpolitzer.com or 267 275 7010.

Update (2/24): Rosie appeared at her apartment door (inside her apartment building!) early Friday morning. She was limping, but otherwise doing okay.
Neighbor Suzanne is looking for her dog Rosie (pictured) who was attacked by another dog last night and escaped during the fight. Rosie was seen by campus police near her home at 42nd & Baltimore, but got scared and ran north-west, then was seen around 44th & Locust, at about 10:15 a.m.
Rosie was injured during the fight (not known to what extent) and her collar came off when she was attacked. She is microchipped.
Please report any sightings to Suzanne at 202 812 2837.

This week’s featured dog is Lola, a 3-5 year old Pit Bull mix who found her way to the shelter after her family surrendered her. She has been through a lot at the shelter… She was very sick for a little while, but she feels much better now, thanks to all of her shelter friends who took good care of her while she wasn’t feeling her best.
Lola is back in the game now and is ready to find her forever home. If you have other dogs, please bring them down to the shelter to meet her – she likes to be the center of attention, and because of that, she likes her doggie friends to let her have the spotlight. Lola will be spayed, microchipped and up to date on all of her shots when you take her home with you.
Lola is located at ACCT Philadelphia, 111 W. Hunting Park Avenue. Adoption hours are 1-8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on weekends. If you are interested in fostering, please contact nsmith [at] pspca.org or jsweeney [at] pspca.org. For more information about ACCT including adoption and foster information please visit www.acctphilly.org.

This week’s featured cat is Tessa. She is a perfect starter cat. She is happy-go-lucky and laid back. She seeks out the company of people and loves to be stroked, but she does not demand constant attention. She is happy to lay nearby while her family reads, plays, cooks or watches TV. Because Tessa was found in an abandoned lot as a skinny, friendly mama with six kittens, she now loves to eat and sports a well-padded figure. Although Tessa is no longer a kitten, she is still playful and enjoys toys. She gets along with all the cats in her foster home, though she has not had any exposure to dogs.
All of Tessa’s kittens have been adopted except Purple. Purple, who is about 6 months old, is a bit shy. When she was first found she hid most of the time. But now, like her mom, she likes to be around people and welcomes petting and playing. She will need a bit of extra patience and TLC from her adoptive family.
Tessa and Purple are both spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, FIV/FeLV negative, flea treated, microchipped and ready for loving homes! Anyone willing to adopt both mom & daughter will be offered a reduced adoption fee. Please contact projectmeowadoptions [at] gmail.com. If you want to meet Tessa, she’s currently at Baltimore Pet Shoppe (4532 Baltimore Ave).
