All Philadelphia public schools will remain closed on Friday, Jan. 5, due to heavy snowstorm that hit the area on Thursday. All after-school activities, including all athletic programs and professional development sessions scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday are also canceled. All District early childhood centers will also be closed.
School District headquarters will open on a two-hour delay.
All Archdiocesan high schools and parochial elementary schools will also be closed on Friday due to today’s storm.
Snow emergency for Philadelphia will end at 8 p.m. on Thursday.

The City of Philadelphia has issued a snow emergency effective at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday. That means that vehicles should be moved from certain streets in the city, including the entire length of Chestnut and Walnut Streets and Woodland Avenue in West Philly.
The region is under a winter storm warning with three to six inches of snow expected.

UPDATE (3/14/17, 1:20 p.m.): The snow emergency was lifted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, and parking is again allowed on snow emergency routes.
Due to the anticipated winter storm a snow emergency will be in effect in Philadelphia beginning at 9 p.m. this evening, which means all the vehicles parked along streets designated as snow emergency routes should be moved. Enforcement, with ticketing and towing, will begin at midnight. Cars left on snow emergency routes will be moved to other parking spots to assist in snow plowing operations. If your car is moved, call 215-686-SNOW to find it (don’t call 911).

The Philadelphia Parking Authority has announced that they will not be enforcing meters or time limits on residential blocks during the snow emergency.
All trash and recycling collections will be suspended for Tuesday, March 14. If your collection day is Tuesday please hold your trash until the next week. Continue Reading

UPDATE (Feb. 9, 1:30 p.m.): The Snow Emergency for Philadelphia was lifted at noon on Thursday. Parking is now allowed along snow emergency routes.
A winter storm is approaching the region (6 to 10 inches of snow is expected in the area on Thursday, Feb. 9), and the city announced that a Snow Emergency will be declared beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday.
All parked cars must be moved off Snow Emergency routes to allow plowing vehicles to pass. When moving your car, park as far from the corner of the street as possible; vehicles parked too close to the corner get in the way of snow plows trying to turn corners.

Trash and recycling collection has been cancelled for Monday, Jan. 25 due to snow clean up. If your trash pick-up day is Monday, please hold it until Feb. 1.
Earlier today the School District of Philadelphia announced that all public schools and early childhood programs will be closed on Monday.
City offices and courts will be open.
UPDATE (10:30 p.m.): The City lifted the snow emergency at 10 p.m., so parking in designated snow emergency routes is now permitted. The Philadelphia Parking Authority will not enforce meters or time limit violations on Monday due to ongoing cleanup efforts.

The City has declared a snow emergency effective 9 p.m. Friday. If you parked your vehicle along any of the snow emergency routes, please move it as soon as possible. All vehicles remaining parked along the emergency routes after 9 p.m. will be towed. If your car is towed please call 215-686-SNOW.

• Island Avenue from Woodland Avenue to Enterprise Avenue
• Cobbs Creek Parkway from Walnut Street to Woodland Avenue
• Schuylkill Avenue from Market Street to Walnut Street
As of 9 p.m., meter and time limit violations will not be enforced in the city, but snow emergency routes and safety violations will be enforced.
